Masks for The Diviners

These are the masks I was working on all spring (2012) for a dance choreographed by Jillian Harris-Farrell at Temple University. Based on Dante’s Inferno and the punishment of the Diviners, these masks are designed for the performer to wear as a hat, with the visage facing backwards as the dancer performs with their back to the audience, giving the impression that the head is spun around backwards. All masks are papier mache and acrylic paint.
